Maddie Update

We've been having fun in California. Maddie loves the sunshine and loves being outside. We do miss our friends in Utah though! She's growing so fast. She'll be 3 months in a few days. She's getting really tall, talking and cooing all the time, smiling (although she refuses to smile for pictures!), rolling over from her tummy to her back, getting some cute dark fuzz on the top of her head, and making me fall more in love with her every day! She's totally mellowed out, but definitely still has her feisty moments. Here's a few pictures of what we've been up to...
Maddison and Briggs. They were such angels during our crazy busy wedding weekend.

First day at the beach. Our second day was better cuz we actually brought our suits and the umbrella.
Isn't she the most adorable thing you've ever seen?

The Wedding

My little sister's married! We came down to California for Jess and Mike's wedding almost two weeks ago. They were married on April 11 in the San Diego temple. It was a beautiful sealing, and so wonderful to be all together as a family in the temple. Things are finally slowing down a little bit after a crazy couple of weeks! I'll try to give the brief recap in pictures.

These Days...

Maddison's been busy loungin in her bouncy chair,
Sucking on her binky and sleeping in her crib,
Getting dressed up for church (she's got to wear all her adorable dresses before she grows out of them!),
Playing with her favorite toy, Mr. Octopus (notice how she managed to hook her iron grip around the orange fish...genius or luck?),

And just being her adorable self!

2 Months

Maddison's 2 Month Stats:
24 inches (91st percentile)
12.5 lbs (89th percentile)
We grow 'em big and healthy in this family!
Not happy about being so exposed...
Why mom?
But here's my happy baby.
Have a great day!

I Enjoy Being a Girl

...and having one! Lately I've had so much fun playing dress up with my baby. She's just so cute, I can't help it!

When I found out I was pregnant, I was convinced I was having a boy. I don't know if it was just because I thought I'd be better at raising boys, because in my family a boy came first, or just mixed up mother's intuition, but whatever it was, I was wrong.
I've always been somewhat of a tomboy. I was always trying to keep up with my older brothers and am just really competitive by nature. I loved playing sports, and still do, but I also loved dress up and barbies.
I was looking for some baby pictures and came accross this sweet letter my dad wrote me a few years ago that has a bunch of old pictures glued on it. As only a dad can describe his little girl, he said, "I liked how you liked to get filthy but also how you liked dressing up like a little princess...The perfect combination of mud and make-up- proms and mud runs. You could kick a ball like no other and go right to a dance lesson. You could catch my stretchers as good as the boys and still wow them in a prom dress."
As women, we all have our self-esteem issues, but this is one thing I love about myself. I'm tomboy and girly girl all in one. A few days ago we got to stay in Park City while Megan and Josh were house sitting at this amazing house on the Canyons Resort. I got to go snowboarding while JD watched the babe. Then Tuesday I played in our first city league volleyball game. (I'm really rusty!) Doing things like this keeps me going.
I love being a mom and homemaker. I go crazy over petti skirts, bows, and cute dresses. I can't wait to bust out my brand new sewing machine and start creating again. I'm trying to be better at cooking healthy meals, and I'm looking for some hot black heels to go with my pencil dress for my sister's wedding.
I'm afraid my little one might have some of me in her. She is one intense little chica. She is constantly moving til she wears herself out, then crashes. She actually screams whenever I'm getting her dressed and putting bows on. But she can pull off cute like no other :).
So, basically, I'm just loving the whole girly girl thing right now.

Maddison's Blessing

JD gave our baby a beautiful blessing last Sunday. I was worried that she would cry through the whole thing, but she did amazing, and was wide awake and peaceful the whole time. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion as I watched the men in our family gather to bless our special little girl. I'm so grateful for the priesthood and a loving Father in Heaven who gives us little glimpses into the immense love He has for us. I know He adores Maddison, and I also know He must love me very much to let me be her mother.
Here she is in her princess dress. Thanks Kim for letting me borrow it. It was perfect!
Peace. The men with their offspring. Notice the smile.

Cousins
More cousins. Maddie looks alittle unsure about letting Johnny get too close. He's learning how to be soft.
She was pretty comfy lounging on Briggs even though he wasn't too fond of it.

Three will turn to four in September!
Cute feet. (Thanks Raelene!)
Happy babyProud grandparents
Maddie and Emily...One of these smiles is about to turn into a wail. Can you guess which one?
